Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We are Dave and Denise and we are very excited to meet you. To consider an adoption plan is a very selfless act, and we admire your courage to make that sacrifice. We know that you want to find a loving, happy family for your child and we hope that we can make this difficult time a little easier for you. Even though we don't know you, please know that we are thinking of you and hope that you have others to help you through this time.
About Us
We met on a blind date when we were 19 years old. It was love at first sight for us, and the last fourteen years have been filled with happiness and laughter ever since. We have been together through so much and it has made our relationship stronger. We dated for seven years. We knew we were meant to be together, and Dave proposed to Denise on the day of college graduation. We married seven years ago, but it seems just like just yesterday! We wed aboard a cruise ship with all our friends and family around us.
Our wedding was wonderful and so special, but every day of our marriage we realize more and more how lucky we are to have found each other. We laugh every day and we really are best friends. We have the same likes and dislikes, and we have the same values and goals in life. Being together for so long has given our relationship a strong foundation for when we have children.
Why We Chose Adoption
We have always dreamt of the day we have a child, and from the beginning of our relationship we have talked of one day adopting. We feel that this is the path we were meant to be on. Our infertility has brought us closer than ever and we feel blessed to have this opportunity to adopt and share our love with a child. We have two family friends who have adopted, and we have seen how much happiness adoption can bring to a family.
Throughout our adoption journey, we have met many wonderful people who have adopted or been adopted. Denise just found out that her great-greatgrandmother was adopted by a couple in Nova Scotia. She is recorded in the family records as their 'chosen child', a term we love. Denise had a close friend who was adopted, and she had the opportunity to learn about adoption from an adopted child’s point of view. Our nephews and niece cannot wait to have a little cousin to play with, and our godsons eagerly await their new little friend. Our families are ecstatic that we are adopting and cannot wait to welcome this child into our family.
Our Home
Our home is in a safe, family-oriented neighborhood. We live in the house that Dave grew up in, and before we married we bought it from Dave's parents. It is a large Victorian home with a big backyard and several gardens on the property. With much hope in our hearts, we are currently redecorating one of our bedrooms into a beautiful nursery.
Everyday our home is filled with friends and family dropping by. Dave loves to grill, so summers are filled with barbecues and lobsterfests in the backyard. Denise loves to cook and bake, and every holiday our home is filled with our extended family and friends. Greta and Daisy, our miniature schnauzers (AKA the little princesses), can often be found in the middle of it all on somebody's lap.
Our Town
We love living in our town. Our area has a small town feel to it, complete with historic landmarks and architecture, but it has all the resources of a big town.
